Deb Werling - “I attended Bob's March 2022 Outer Banks workshop and it was excellent! Bob is an outstanding instructor for photographers at all levels. He provided up front preparation through an on-line meeting to ensure everyone was informed and could prepare and practice for night sky photography prior to the workshop. During the workshop he provided clear instruction to the group from basic exposure to camera settings for night sky photography to processing images. He also provided one on one instruction during photo shoots. Bob is a very knowledgeable and attentive instructor. I look forward to attending other workshops with him and highly recommend his workshops to others!”
Lisa Huston - Thanks for another wonderful workshop Bob! I always appreciate your never-ending patience to work with participants at all skill levels. You continue to host the best workshops I've attended hands-down for truly increasing my photography skills. Thank you for continuing to push me farther with each workshop!
Val & Ed Short - My husband and I first met Robert virtually; we admired his landscape and night sky photography for a long time. Our first workshop was quite small focused on learning the basics of night sky photography in a few hours one evening on the Eastern Shore. We’ve since traveled with him to The Outer Banks and to Maine twice as well as attended several DC area one day MeetUp’s on long exposure and focus stacking. Many of our images from these outings have placed in our camera club and won awards in regional and national photo competitions.
Robert is a thorough teacher with lots of patience. On workshops he is focused on attendees departing with their strongest images with a very small groups of participants. It’s rare you will see him shoot; he instead cycles through each participant reviewing images, settings and refining your work. We find him very approachable and his teaching style supports both advanced camera techniques and the beginning photographer who is working toward transitioning to manual.
Workshops include detailed handouts on gear and logistics and virtual follow ups for image critique and editing workflows. Robert’s belief is that post-processing is today’s dark room drawing from his many years shooting film as a professional. He provides the support to get it as close to perfect in camera in the field which allows much less time in front of the computer to bring images to their fullest potential and dynamic range.
Ray Conrad - I have taken several local workshops under Bob Fawcett and I always find them interesting, educational, and worthwhile. His Outer Banks Milky Way photography workshop is absolutely no exception. He taught us very well with his clear instructions. His handouts are resourceful. He is straightforward and he likes to empower students to try what he has taught them. He always makes sure students learn and practice what he taught them to do. To my delight, his Milky Way workshop had been adventurous and fun with him being so friendly. He gave us plenty of opportunities for us to try the hands-on exercises. It is always amazing to see the Milky Way in the very dark and stars-filled sky and it is even better to see it through your own photography work. His Outer Banks Milky Way photography workshop is definitely memorable, and I look forward to trying some more Milky Way and night photography opportunities.
